Makeup Brushes for Beginners..... Individual Brushes

Hello Ladies,

I have been asked about what makeup brushes do I need, how do I use this brush, do I need alot of brushes, do they cost much? So I decided for those of you who are looking to invest or know someone that would like their first makeup brushes weather its for your daughter or younger sister starting out in makeup or your mother wanting to try new things, then this guide will help you out.

So starting with a Primer, you can use your fingers for this or use whatever brushes I will include for your foundation.

So speaking of Foundation, there are 4 different options when applying foundation, besides your fingers.....

1. Stippling Foundation Brush: This brush is usually made out of synthetic fibers, so allows you to pick up enough product to build up coverage and gives a lovely flawless look.
Some Examples of this brush are:

Crown Brush C406 Large Duo Fibre Face Brush €11.61

Blank Canvas Cosmetics F03 Medium Duo Fibre Stippling Brush €13.99

Real Techniques Stippling Brush €15.99

2. Flat Painters Foundation Brush: These I think are what people think of when they first buy foundation brushes. This will give a lovely flawless look and if you want a more of a full coverage, this brush picks up more product. But it does take more time to blend with, if you dont give the time you may be left with streaks and unblended foundation, but still a lovely finish with this brush.
Some Examples are:

Crown Brush IB123 Oval Foundation Brush €7.61

Blank Canvas Cosmetics F02 Double Ended Painter foundation/concealer brush €9.99

Real Techniques Foundation Brush €12.99

3. Buffing Brush: These again are usually synthetic. It also you to build up your foundation, but buffs your foundation into your skin, less time needed to blend as it blend everything seamlessly. Gives again flawless results.
Examples are:

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush €13.29

Blank Canvas Cosmetics F20 Flat Top Buffer Brush €13.99
(comes in hot pink handle aswell)

Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush €10.50

4. Sponge/ Beauty Blender: You can wet these and get a dewy/light coverage foundation, and build up the coverage. Or leave them dry and get a medium/full coverage. All you have to do it press and roll into the skin. Really gives an airbrushed look.
Examples:

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge €5.89

Blank Canvas Cosmetics Airbrush Blending Sponge (3 colours available) €6.99

Beauty Blender Original €20
Can be got in Makeup Forever Dublin

So next you will want brushes for other applications of the face, such as contouring(optional), blusher and powder.

Powder: Depending on what size you want, you can go for the BIG powder brushes or a small and neat brush for setting certain areas of the face or just a medium size brush which are normally universal and can be used for blush and contour aswell.
Examples:

Real Techniques Powder Brush €16.99
